Not only is tomorrow Father's Day it is also the first day of summer! I must say this last week has certainly felt like summer. Temperatures in the 90's with the heat index near 100. Next week's forecast doesn't get any better. Hot and humid with temperatures in the mid to upper 90's. When you are outside gardening make sure you are clothed properly, have applied sunscreen and have something to drink to keep you hydrated. When the temperatures and the heat index hit the 100's it can be dangerous to be out too long. Garden early in the day or late in the evening. It will feel so much cooler :)
I am still battling rabbits! They are everywhere! We have two vacant lots on our block right next door to us and at any given time you can look and see as many as 4-6 rabbits sitting around....UGH! I am applying a perimeter of Rabbit Scram around all of my beds. With all of the rain that we have had I have had to be deligent with applications. The rabbits still seem to be munching away on my coneflower as if it were a walk up salad bar. So frustrating!
