I'm searching for a source of sheep manure for my garden. Does anyone know of a source outside the greater KC area? Are there any cautionary tales about adding sheep manure to the garden soil, or to handling it? Thanks!

Hi Susan
A good rule of thumb is that when you want sheep manure a person should buy it from a garden center because it is free of all weeds and chemicals. As long as you work it in it won't burn your plants. You have a choice on what animal you want. Either cow manure or sheep. I was told that it really dosen't matter what a person uses. But there are some gardeners that say sheep is the best. Hope this helps you.

On the cautionary tale side: be sure to get manure only from organic farms because herbicides and other chemicals can pass into your garden via the manure and then actually get picked up by the plants. Some of these can even cause vegetable deformities.
If you can get manure from 100% grassfed sheep then that will greatly help avoid bringing in e-coli.
