I have lived here in MO for 3 years now and last night as the rain was beating on the windows I started to miss the East Coast. Perhaps because it seemed like the weather on the Coast was so much more predictable. I didn't have a chance to start a big garden when I lived there, due to lack of time and moving around, but I don't remember fearing week to week what the weather would bring to my smallish garden.
Also, I am missing the ocean very badly. It didn't seem to bother me over the last two years but these days I yearn to stare into it's great big abyss. Hopefully I can get back soon to smell the salty air and visit with friends and family.
Mornings bring a new day so I woke up and went out to survey the damage from the crazy wind and rain last night. It seems almost everything survived. My hobby green house has a small tear (i can fix that) and some of my transplants in the greenhouse fell over but they seem ok for now. Then I received my application in my e-mail for the Master Gardener's. Super Exciting! Though I may be the youngest applicant, hehe. So, I forge ahead hoping that I get to share my enthusiasm and learn as much as I can about gardening thru the Master Gardener program.

Thanks Shelly :)
To make my day even better I have 4 orioles hanging out in my yard today. Seeing their beaks covered with jelly definitely makes me smile.

Spring storms and all the rain we often receive is a real downer at times. It makes me crazy not to be outside! I also hate it when the sun is not shining. The Midwest weather is very unpredictable (in case you haven't noticed over the last 3 years). I have to tell you that after last winter I was telling Kevin that we had to find a new place to live. It is hard to move and uproot kids that are in school so for now we are here in Kansas, stuck to deal with whatever it throws at us. I'm very excited that you are taking the Master Gardener's class. I am sure you will enjoy it. So much to know and learn....you will be very busy :) Have a great day and hang in there.
