Well I went and did it. Yep, against all better judgement I planted annuals this past weekend. I even potted a hibiscus and fretted about it all last night. I have always been a big believer that you shouldn't start planting annuals until after Mother's Day. The spring bug has bitten and we are hosting Morgan's graduation party in a couple of weeks and I just didn't feel like I could wait. I did my research and checked the long term forecast and noticed that the only semi scary cold morning was today. I think the low temperature was 42. Even though it didn't freeze it really is not the best weather for tropicals. It survived however and everything else I planted seems to be OK. There has been plenty of rain so everything planted got a good soaking. More rain in the forecast. Things are really going to start taking off.

Hey Mark,

I have had plenty of encounters with slime mold and have never had it stain anything. Of course when I am working in the garden I typically am wearing something old and raggedy. I'm not sure where you got your information but all I can say is that I personally have never encountered a problem like those you are asking about. Hope this helps! Shelly

Hey Shelly: I was told in a gardening lecture that the slime mold eruptions can stain clothing, paint or even cars. Is that true? It seemed far fetched but it came from a good source but it seems a bit far fetched. Let me know. Thanks, Mark
