Why Natural Insect Control Works Better

There is a great article in the current edition of Mother Earth News that talks about letting "good" insects take care of the "bad" insects in the garden. Interesting reading and sounds like a good way to control pests in the garden.http://www.motherearthnews.com/organic-gardening/why-natural-insect-control-works-better.aspxSee More

"You need to spell it correctly to get to Paul James' website: http://www.gardenerguy.com/ It's a shame his show was given the boot. There's precious little "G" left in the HGTV programming. They should just rename it Real…"

Paul James the Gardner Guy

After being unceremoniously dumped by HGTV, Paul James the Gardener Guy has finally put up a website -- www.gardenerguy.com. For the uninitiated, James, a Master Gardener, had a show on HGTV dealing with everyday issues all of us face in our own back yards. More importantly, James produced the show from his home in Tulsa, OK, where he faced many of the same issues we face in the KC area. Best of all, James has always kept it real. In Paul's own words:…See More

Those darn squirrels

After 16 great years, the family cat reached the end of the line last winter and Ringo, the family German Shepherd has apparently decided to take early retirement, choosing to spend his days curled up in the air conditioned corner rather than patrolling the yard for pesky hole-digging, tomato-eating varments.I seem to have finally succeeded in hanging the bird feeders out of jumping range for the squirrels. But recently I've noticed broken "branches" on my tomatoes. Yesterday, I witnessed two…See More

Community Gardens

Does anybody know of a community garden in the Lenexa/Shawnee area. I would love to grow more vegetables but don't have space in my own yard.

Willie replied to Willie's discussion Has anyone used Earth Rite Super Stuff?
"Just to follow up. It's been about three weeks since I applied the Earth Rite. There is a noticable difference in the lawn. As for my drainage issues, last week's gullywashers presented no problems at all. I would highly recommend Earth…"

Willie replied to Willie's discussion Has anyone used Earth Rite Super Stuff?
"Thanks for the info. They told me at Family Tree the best time to apply was while it was raining, so at the risk if having my neighbors think I went off the deep end, I went out in the rain tonight and sprayed down my yard. We'll see what…"
