"I planted a different climbing rose on each side of my arbor. Eden (pale pink) on one side, and Climbing Iceberg (white) on the other."

Double planting over my climbing rose?

I have a climber on a very large arbor that serves as an entrance to a lower patio. I would like to plant a second climber or vine, that would bloom at an alternate time, or bloom more frequently than my roses. In doing so, I dont want to injure my climber as this is just its fourth year and last year is when it really bloomed like I wanted it too. Many of my gardening magazines suggest this is possible, but I am a little reluctant. Has any one done this successfully?
