Seeds

I am looking at changing my seed supplier. Been useing Gurneys for the last few yrs, but not happy with quality. My Big Boys look like Early Girls, my peppers never came on till very late this year and were small. I have been useing both seed and plants. Any ideas on seed suppliers that you have been having success with that ship to Iowa?See More

I've scoured my cookbooks for a good cat recipe...my mouser is about to go into a cooking pot.... someone let her onto my back porch where i have my seeds started and she ate the tops off my broccoli and cabbage sprouts...i was about to transplant then onto bigger planting cups when i went to get them there she was with a smile on her face as if to say yep they were delicious

Tired but oh what a weekend

Worked in the yard for 3 hrs yesterday digging up old sod area for new veggie garden, and preparing a back bank for heavy mulching to cut back itch weed patch (hope to plant pumpkins and melons on it after mulch is laid down. Today spent 2 hrs digging and seperating flower bulbs and then remulching it all.. dirt from head to toe, and looking like Pig Pen off Charlie Brown but feeling great after all the fresh air

Mapping out my garden

Posted on March 3, 2009 at 10:44am 5 Comments

Spent almost a full afternoon going through my wish list for the garden. decided to map it out and see what the tiller could look forward to in a few weeks. 12 Brandywine tomatoes, 6 Cherry Tomatoe plants, 6 bell pepper plants, 30 ft rows of lettuce, spinach, peas, cucks, cabage, broc, beans, cantalope and watermelon. A total of 36x30, I think my poor mower is going to be on its tiny wheels, thanking the tiller for taking such a load off its workload this year.

Nothing better to do..

So I ordered my Brandywine tomatos, Fat And Saay Peppers, and my Jelly Bean tomatos from Gurney, need to layout my garden as this is a new house i bought last fall so need to figure out the best way to lay it out. I have about a half lot to utilize. I dont think the 30 plants i ordered will fill the whole space and i hate to mow so need to cut that task way down.

Hey Robert,

I forget about Earl May. I use to shop at their store every now and then but they are so far from my house and there are too many other good garden centers closer to me. Great to hear from you.

Shelly
