Veggie Garden

This garden is watered by a 1750 gal cistern that is fed by runoff from the roof of the home. The water is delivered to the garden via gravity.

when we saw Ashley yesterday, we said,"hi horse rustler!" The 25 and-a-half-year-old said, "my face could not be any redder."
thanks for the laugh.

cool! nice to hear from you.
I live right outside of "town" on 33, on the Clay County side of the city limits. We don't have the prairie area, like you. Just a small spot, but we have a good little garden with some raised beds. I like raising heirloom tomatoes and other veggies. I love, love prairie flowers. I'm always saving seeds from various things. Maybe we can do seed trades or plant exchanges sometime. stay warm. ~Sherry

About Me:
We recently moved to a straw bale home in Holt. The owner/architect had been working on prairie restoration on the property using native grasses and wildflowers. There is also a wonderful rain garden that is designed using a 1700 gallon cistern that catches water from the metal roof on the house, and is available to water the garden below using drip hoses. We are excited about maintaining the stewardship of the land that was started at Wildgrasses by the previous owner. Our home will also be featured in the fall 2009 issue of Natural Home magazine. My profile photo was taken at our home while the monarchs were migrating.
