Hi there- I am out turning my compost pile for the first time this year after the long winter and while I have lots of good looking earth worms, there is also a jillion (approximately!) little tiny white bugs that have a build a bit like an ant with antennae and legs (no wings). They are a bit bigger than sugar ants. I haven't done anything different with my compost pile than previous years, but this is a new thing to see these bugs. Also ligularia (sp?) is a really cool extra tall and showy shade perrennial. If you use astilbe, my advice would be to go with whites or reds because they "pop"…"
