"Well, according to the vegetable growing calendar, this is the time for lettuce and some other crops. I will be planting lettuce seeds directly into the ground as they dont appreciate being moved later on. This is my first year with a vegetable…"

"Thank you everyone for the great ideas. We're figuring out how to incorporate some of them into the garden now. With that in mind, do we need these plants close together, or can they be on other ends of the yard from each other?"

Butterfly gardens in KC

There is a lot of info out there on butterfly gardens. My wife really wants to get one going in the back, but I've never had one. We have a few bushes for the butterflies planted and now I'm trying to figure out the best plants to encourage caterpillars, however, I dont know which butterflies are native to Kansas and which plants correspond.Does anyone have any experience with this? Most importantly, are there any pitfalls I should know about as I'm getting this prepared?See More

"What have you tried? I've not found much that stands up to roundup, but I assume that after 10 years, you've tried that. If you are really dedicated to getting rid of them, I would dig into the area and get the roots. I cant tell from this…"
