Chardoner Gardener replied to Chris Breer's discussion 'weird things in compost pile'
I did not think I added anything weird, but every year I find something when I go to use the compost from the pile. Over the past few years I have found a pair of my sunglasses, my potato peeler, a paring knife and my pruning shears. All but the…

Red Raspberry Recommendations, Please

Last year we mowed down our 10-year-old raspberry patch of Autumn Bliss. Though I had some raspberries each year, they never really took off. I am considering Polan (but I have heard they are difficult to pick off the plant), Nova, and Kilarney. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. About Me:
I garden in Chardon, Ohio which is the buckle on the snow belt in our state. Long beautiful autumn seasons. Short almost non-existent spring seasons. Zone 5. I grow vegetables from seed and have a few perennial flower beds. I enjoy reading the Savvy gardener emails and found the Savvygardener.com site searching for a gardening question I had a while ago. I get caught up with the gardening gadgets sometimes and have tried Wall-O-Waters, Bean Towers, Reemay, Drip Spikes and Self-Watering Planters. I will enjoy reading what other gardeners share from their experiences.

I was raised by my Grandparents and my Grandfather loved to care for his Roses and Peony's. I am constantly reminded of my Grandad when I am working with my roses and always think how lucky I am to have inherited his love for them (and the peony's!). Your gardens will become lovely because of the fond memories of your Father.
