Freakish corn, puzzling tomatoes and a fantastic lemonade recipe.

I cant believe august is almost over and just now my tomatoes and peppers have decided to come on strong. I hated watching my tomatoes grow and start to split before they even thought of turning the slightest pink. Cucks on the other hand have decided to mutate into monsters that have overflowed the trellis and spread like wildfire across the garden and have given away 4 bushels to everyone that i could find to pawn them off on, that's besides all the pickles, relish and assorted other stuff my imagination could think of to use them. Seems like anything that is to grow up haven't done anything , everything viny has taken on a life of its own, including the cantaloupe and watermelons.
I know I should mulch all me veggies, I have been a little behind since i spent 3 weeks out of town, does anyone know where I can find almost weed free straw?
Spinach question! My plants have already seeded out, will they come back if I leave them where they are? Or should I cut them back? I've never had it last this long, usually the plants just wither and die! I planted it last fall...
We came out OK with the storm in Olathe. We've just had too much rain and cool weather, I think. Cantelope hasn't sprouted, other things are just slow to emerge. Come on, sunshine!
How did everyone's gardens do in the storms Friday? We were very blessed not to have more damage here west of Topeka, although we had golfball-size hail! With many plants 3 inches tall or shorter, I think our garden is a bit behind where most of you are, but we're happy with it so far. Our strawberries are starting to flower just this week.
