Ok, so some say cover the daffodils and tulips but on the news (KMBC) tonight they said they would be just fine. Should I also cover the brussel sprouts, I know they are "tolerant" will they be ok, they are about 6 inched tall already.
I covered mine but now I am worried about snow pile up since they say there may be a few inches an hour for a few hours overnight Friday.
Ahhhh, this midwest weather is soooooo stressful.

Well, I covered them all and have no idea if it will help or not. On some plants, I put sheets or towels only (because I didn't have enought plastic...on other areas, I put sheets and plastic over top.

Since we got rain/sleet first, wouldn't the areas covered with fabric alone freeze? I wonder if my efforts were appropriate, or not.. Most of the advice is what to do in preparation for frost...it doesn't talk about rain/sleet and then snow.

Any experts out there than can provide some insight for us?????
Everything we covered survived...even the flowering daffidils! The plants that weren't covered weren't in bloom, but looked like they did fine. I'm still not sure if my efforts were necessary or not.
We put lawn chairs, ladders anything sturdy we could find over our plants then draped tarps over them. It's not pretty but it has kept them from getting crushed. Don't know if it will keep them from freezing though because it's supposed to get really cold tomorrow nite. So far we have 4" of snow near downtown Overland Park.
