Can anyone recommend a place between Lawrence and the KC metro that sells organic vegetable plants? I'm pretty new to gardening, so last year I just purchased my plants from Home Depot and grew them organically in my garden from there...so they weren't truly organic. It seems like I'm too late to start my own seeds this year, so I'd like to buy plants that are from organic seeds and grown organically before I buy them. Any recommendations are appreciated!
Wild Oats grocery stores have organic veggies for sale already. They may have herbs out too - I didn't look that closely.
I imagine the area farmer's markets have some organics for sale and you might try Bad Seed http://www.badseedfarm.com/ There is a Friday night farmer's market there as well as a regular store. Drop her an email and see what/when she sells. Then come back and post! I'd be interested in what you learn.
Thanks so much for the ideas! I hadn't thought about checking at Wild Oats/Whole Foods since I'm in a Lawrence area, but I took a little drive out there today and found some very nice tomato and bell pepper plants at the Whole Foods in OP. Then I decided to go with organic seeds for the rest of the garden and picked up organic carrot, cucumber, lettuce, squash, cantelope, and green bean seeds from Home Depot. Got everything planted today and hoping for some good results! I just love this website...I've learned to much reading here!
