Without a soil test to tell you what your soil lacks, and since you dont say what you are planting, it is not possible to be exact. However, there are some few general rules which may be helpful:
- Compost. Adding in some compost is never wrong. If you buy from a store, dont use all the same kind of compost (ie: manure, cotton tree compost, mushroom compost) but rather, mix some of each.
- Sand. If you have alot of clay in your soil, adding in some sand will improve its ability to drain water. This may be important if the kind of plants you are planting dont like to sit in water.
