Mine are Purple cherokee or black brandywine, they have a deep winey flavor and plenty of zing

I havent found many that I care for either.

Most yellows are just bland to me.
  • Yellow Brandywine is excellent but you only get about 2-3 fruit per plant.
  • Lucky Cross, a bicolor, has really good flavor too. However, it tends to be another poor producer in this area.
The cherries:
  • Yellow Submarine - a potato leaf yellow pear with much better flavor and not as dry as the regular variety of "yellow pear"
  • Galinas - another potato leaf, medium sized cherry.better than most yellows
