We bought a house a few years ago with a cute little weeping cherry tree off the end of the deck. I did a little trimming on it the first couple of years, but then I started worrying that I was doing it wrong. It kind of gets a little wonky and out of control, but I don't want to cut the wrong things. So the last couple of years I kind of let it go. I love the look of it when it blossoms and I want to give it the care it deserves, but I'm terrified of ruining it.
So here's my question... Is there anyone I can hire to just come out and teach me how to take care of it? I don't mind doing the work, but I'd love some consultation. I wouldn't mind paying a little bit to have someone come out and explain to me how it grows and how to maximize its potential. Am I too late? Is there a service out there that does that kind of thing?

Thanks so much for any advice you may have.

If you are close by I could tell you what to prune.

It's still a little early to do so.

you can email me yardist at kc.rr.com

please refer to this posting if you decide to write so I have some context. I will give you my phone number then.
Just a reminder

NOW is a good time to prune this tree
I'm with you Christine. I would love to hire someone to teach me how to shape mine.
I will gladly do so if you email me at the address above
I'd email you but I can't figure out how.
yardist "at" kc.rr.com

replace "at" with @

like y_____@kc.rr.com

posting my email in proper form in boards always bots to find it and send junk mail. that's why I was reluctant to do so.
You can also check out your local extention office at the county, they have a hot line to answer questions by master gardeners. we had one inour neighborhood so I always refer to her with questions!
