Hi all. I'm new to the forum and have a question about walnuts. I've got a black walnut tree in my back yard that drops tons of walnuts every year. My dad took a bunch last year, and I asked him if he wanted any more this year. He said he's still got three buckets from last year.
So now I need to decide what to do with the ones in the yard (gotta pick them up or I can't mow). Seems like there are three options:
A) Take them to the city burn pile.
B) Put up a sign for free walnuts and just let people come take what they want.
C) Pick them up myself, bag them, and sell them (husk and all) for a cheap price.
Which one seems like the best way to take care of them? I'd prefer to bag and sell them, but I don't know if people would actually pay for walnuts that aren't de-husked and shelled (I really don't have the time to do all that work).
Thanks for any advice. I really like the forum and am looking forward to being here (just started gardening this year).
The Lawrence Fruit Tree Project, aka LFTP, is always actively searching for produce.
They will gladly come to your residence and pick your extra produce.
Easy and generous solution.
