I have some perennials and bulbs that I forgot to plant. I have tulip bulbs and of the plants... I have a Russian Sage, an Anise Hyssop, and a Foxglove. Until last weekend, I had left the plants in their original pots in our side yard and forgot about them. I brought them in our garage because I feared the cold temperatures were too much for them. All of them are still alive!

So...now what??? Do I plant them...keep them inside...what????

I've had luck planting some forgotten daffodil bulbs in January-February when a little Midwestern warm spell thawed the ground enough to get a spade in.  They were a bit late and small the first year, but they took right off after that - no problems.  Actually, I guess I'll be trying my luck again this year because your post reminded me of the bag of unplanted daff bulbs that I believe are still in the trunk of my car.  Now the others (sage, etc.) I think I'd just try to nurse through the winter in the garage and plant in the spring.  I'm so glad to know there's another purchase-and-forget-it gardener out there!

I sat on the cold, cold ground on Tuesday and planted 80 daffodil and tulip bulbs.  The soil was still very workable, so we'll see what happens come spring.
