I'm new to Kansas gardening, and have never grown a serviceberry.  Something has been munching the leaves -- in fact, the poor tree is nearly naked.  Does anyone know what might be eating it?  Does the loss of leaves pose a problem other than loss of fall color?

Keep an eye out for webworms or gypsy moths, I think both feed on the serviceberry. You might want to treat the tree with Bacillus thuringiensis.
Thanks for your suggestion. I'll keep a watch on the tree.
