I have planted 3 porcelain vines along my fence line because they were recommended to me by a garden nursery specialist.  Although they are very pretty,I am now reading stories on the internet about how these vines take over and the seeds from the berries are carried off by the birds and transplanted.  Can these vines be controlled by trimming or should I pull them out?

Everything I have read is that this vine is highly invasive. It is a non native plant from asia and can quickly take over. However, I am thinking it is super invasive in warmer climates. Being in zone 5 it might not be as bad. You might want to dead head to keep the berries from some spreading seed and cut it back to the ground late winter since it blooms on new wood. I have a feeling, with a little work, it can be kept under control here. If you really want to get rid of it I suggest a trumpet honeysuckle, they are native and noninvasive but can quickly fill out an area in two years or so.
Thanks for the information. After some thought on the matter I did pull them out. I try to keep my yard simple and workload simple. Thought it could be more than I wanted to take on.
I have one porcelain Vine ... on the north side of my house. It has been virtually care-free for me. I have a trellis, cut the plant back to about 8" prior to spring, and then it proceeds to fill the trellis (and no further) each year.

I see a few small seedlings pop-up from the ground level each year, but they are easily pulled.
