About a week and a half ago when it was getting cold I thought maybe the window for fall planting Garlic had passed or was getting close to passing so I planted several bulbs of garlic.

After a week of fairly warm weather, I was looking at that area and noticed that the garlic I had planted is already sprouting when I had not expected to see anything at all until next spring.  I have green sprouts up about 2 inches already.

Is this going to hurt the garlic when the colder weather finally does settle in?  Did I plant too early?

Thanks,

Troy Meyers

Well, they got about 6"-8" tall with 3 "leaves" on each bulb before it got really cold.  they seem to be taking it very well so far.  The green above the ground is still green even though it has been below freezing several times with no snow to cover them.
Well, anyway, the garlic pulled through just fine. I enjoyed looking out my kitchen patio doors and seeing the green tips of the garlic poking up above the snow this winter. The snow also melted around the...leaves?...before it melted elsewhere.
