I have a terrible time getting morning glories to germinate. Last year, I tried nicking them and sowing directly into the ground. Out of a packet, only one came up (granted, the one that came up was wonderful). This year, I soaked the seeds first, then sowed them into Jiffy Pots. Not a one has come up and it's been a couple of weeks. Any ideas?

Other than the hard shell they are usually very easy to grow. I soak them in warm water over night first and then plant directly in the ground. They don't tolerate transplanting very well although this doesn't explain yours not growing. I'd go the direct route with even watering. I love the way they climb and fill a fence in no time. I should add that after soaking they will split open and looks like they are ready to sprout.
Thanks. I'm not giving up yet!
How did they do? Like usual, many of mine did not grow, which is normal. The ones that did are doing great. Hope yours are doing well.
Your method worked well. I have about 4 that are growing great. They are climbing up our deck and will hopefully give us some much-needed shade before long. Can't wait for them to bloom either!
