We have tilled a huge area for our garden next year. It will be at least 100' by 150'. Planting ideas would be great. Most garden planning ideas are for small gardens. I need ideas for a big one! Thanks.

Wow, thats pretty big.  What were you planning when you tilled it up?  You planning to sell extra produce or is this meant to be for your extended family?  You planning on doing any canning or eating as you harvest it? How many people are going to be maintaining it?  How do you plan to control weeds, by hand?  This your first garden?  If only you and/or your first, my first suggestion would be to not plant anything in about 3/4 of it :)

Is this something that is plowed up every year or is it somewhere you could plant a permanent bed...of asparagus or strawberries for example.

Do you like fruit?  raspberries or blackberries or grapes?  Can you put up a trellis? or is this veggies only?

We measured it the other day and it's 68' by 210'. We plan mostly vegies. We can, freeze, and eat from it, plus give food to family if they pick it themselves! There's just the two of us working it, for the most part, but we have a tractor and good hand tiller. Our asparagus is in a separate bed. I'm thinking about raspberries and blackberries; good idea! Our goal is to have enough vegies to last us through a year. It's our second year of gardening and we are still on the learning curve!  We have started a plan; I want to do some companion planting this next year, too, with herbs, etc., to hopefully reduce pesticide use. We aren't totally organic but use as little pesticides as we can.

Thanks for writing.
