Wow! Must be a pretty warm spot. Is this near a stone wall or foundation?

no its in the open in the front yard.

these are wild crocus I dug out from the woods.

There is a naturalized population back there with several variations of color.that flower way early. I have been posting them in another forum every year for about the past 5-6 years. Several years ago they flowered Feb 16th. The crocus I planted from garden center corms come up about 2-3 weeks later.

If I think about it Ill walk back in the woods and take a picture of some of the clumps. They probably closed up in this cold though. Ill also try to get pictures of the wild bleeding hearts and other wildflowers back there. In the last 2 years homeless people have been moving into these woods so i don't go back in there as much anymore.

I noticed some blooming on 81st street last Saturday February 21st.

( susan runs outside and checks her early blooming crocus and crys like a baby) "they are coming up, they are coming up.. spring WILL come... waiiiillll" ( Neighbors bring kids inside and lock windows in fear)
