Composting grass
We moved into a home whose driveway hadn't been edged in quite a long time. I have ALOT of grass (with roots and dirt) in black plastic bags. Does anyone know how long I would need to keep it bagged before putting it into my compost pile? Thanks

I don't think the amount of time left in the bag is a critical factor; it's more important that the green-to-brown ratio be kept 50/50. I'm guessing most of what you had was more on the green side, so do you have more brown material you can mix with it as you add it to your compost pile?

Thanks for the response Kathryn. Yes, I probably do have more green than brown in the bags. I don't have enough dirt right now, but will add it as I can and remember the 50/50 ration. Thanks again!
