I am making some changes to my traditional garden this year and am incorporating some French Biointensive techniques (loosely based on Jeavons 'How to Grow More Vegetables' book). We currently have four raised beds, and will add a fifth in the next week or so. The beds have been double dug to 2 feet (whew! A chore!), and are (or will be, as it's still kind of cool) planted at the spacing intervals the book deems proper.
So, I am wondering if anybody else here in the KC area has tried this type of biointensive gardening? What was your experience like? Did you find your yield to be that much higher? Are the spacing intervals (quite close together) working for you? With raised beds, did you find you needed to water more? How much sooner did your soil heat up? Any words of wisdom?
french intensive is what i use with raised beds and hoop houses they seem to work out very good for me i use organic heirlooms and get tomatos the last week of june but i use 75 day tomatos
