Last year was my first for growing brussel sprouts. We weren't sure when they were ripe and never  picked any of the sprouts.  The plant grew taller and taller. At the end of the season, we did not remove the plant.. Now that it's March.......the plant is turning GREEN!!!!  I didn't think these were perennials and can't believe this plant is coming back. I'm not sure what variety of brussel sprout that it is.   Any advice????  Do I need to cut it back? (It's about 2 1/2 feet tall.)  Do you think it will produce good tasting sprouts?  Is there a sure fire way to know WHEN the peak time is to harvest sprouts?

The same thing happened to us! Amazing. My gardening book says to harvest when they are the size of marbles and to strip leaves above them as you pick, causing the plant to send out more branches and produce more stalks. It's my first time with them so don't know but I'll give it a try. The plant made it through this hard winter so deserves a chance!
