I have a small veggie garden.  A friend of mine gave me some organic alfalfa to use as a winter row cover.  I've read that it is perennial.  Am I going to have to fight alfalfa next year?  Any advice?  I'd like to use annual rye, but don't know where to get it.

Not sure about if you will have to fight it although I suspect there will be some of that....but you might also check when you are supposed to till it under.  Some of that kind of thing is supposed to grow at least 2' tall before you do that, which means that you have to either have a big tiller, or whack it down with a weed wacker before tilling it and then it clogs up the tiller, etc....also, to allow it to grow that tall means you cannot plant your vegetables in the early spring.   Just some things to think about before you plant it.
