Well I don't know about the rest of you but I am barely hanging on. This heat is killing me and a few things planted outside. Our grass has never looked so bad. I talked with TJ, our Ryan Lawn & Tree lawn expert, and he told me that the outbreak of brown patch is the worst he has seen in 20 years. It looks as if summer has arrived! Yesterday was a nasty 90 degrees with the humidity about the same. I worked outside in the late afternoon and into the evening and tried to stay in the shade. Drank lots of water. Funny how just a week ago we were complaining about the rain and the coolness. Gotta love Kansas weather!

I just emptied the rain gauge and it had almost 4 inches in it. That would mean that we have had close to 7.5 inches of rain so far this week. No need to water. More rain in the forecast for this weekend. UGH!

So, is everything is your garden, lawn, driveway, porch, patio (you get the idea) covered with Oak catkins? It is that brown tassel looking stuff that is everywhere. What a pain! I remember last year we swept up a pile that was unbelieveably huge. Of course since we've had all this rain it is going to be more difficult to get rid of. What a mess!
